John H. Evans

The Ethics of Science and Technology

While Evans has long specialized in the ethics of human gene editing, in recent years he has moved toward a more general specialization in the ethics of science and technology writ large.  In particular he has examined human brain organoids and neuro-chimeric animals. Following this broader interest, he co-founded and co-directs, with philosopher Craig Callender, the Institute for Practical Ethics at UC, San Diego.  The Institute for Practical Ethics develops and promotes research on issues facing the public today, with an emphasis on engagement between ethicists, scientists, and policymakers.
